Egg Allergy

Egg allergy is a very rare form of allergic reaction although there are many people who are suffering from it. Many global research efforts have found that most patients suffering from the unlikely condition are infants aged below a year. It is also noteworthy that most infants born with allergy to eggs and egg products eventually tend to overcome the allergic reaction when they reach the age of 5 years. However, for some kids who continuously suffer from the allergic condition, it is very unfortunate having developed such an allergy. That is because there are many products usually and normally enjoyed and loved by kids that are containing eggs, particularly egg white, which contain the main allergens ovomuccoid and ovalbumin.
For nursing moms, it is very difficult when the baby is suffering from egg allergy. Especially if it breastfeeding the baby, the mom should make sure not to consume any product of foods that contain egg ingredients. That is because it is a common knowledge that breastfeeding moms and naturally pass on to their babies the nutrients they have in their bodies. Thus, if the mom eats an egg or any food containing it, she surely would be able to pass the allergenic nutrients of the egg to the baby.
Infants suffering from egg allergy also are bogged by different allergic reactions. Among the manifestations are flushing, nausea, vomiting, hives, wheezing, itching, difficulty in breathing, diarrhea, facial swelling, rapid heartbeat, runny nose, low blood pressure and tummy discomfort. When such symptoms occur, the baby should be rushed to his or her pediatrician at once.
The egg white is said to be containing several allergens that trigger allergic reactions to the body’s natural immune system. Although some studies suggest that the egg yolk could also pose the same magnitude of effects, it is advisable that for babies exhibiting egg allergy manifestations, giving them food and beverage products known to contain egg whites should be avoided. Among those foods are salad and cake dressings, chocolates and ice cream, which often all include egg whites at its ingredients in raw form.
Usually, babies and kids who developed egg allergy overcome the rare situation as they age. It is very rare that adults manifest allergic reactions to eggs. However, in the very few cases identified and reported, egg allergies are naturally healing and are overcome of the body. Treatments could also be possible. Taking in the usual potent anti-allergy medications could be of great help.
